Listen & Learn From People Who Struggle For Indigenous Rights
Thursday July 22,
6.00pm chat & nibbles for a 6.30 start
Donkey Wheel house board room
673 Bourke Street just across from Southern Cross Station
Indigenous communities across the globe have been struggling for rights, respect and social justice for decades. These global struggles are just as relevant to Australian indigenous communities and whilst we all remember the ‘Sorry’ speech and the ‘Closing the Gap’ promises, it is time we turn our attention back to the real issues faced by Australian indigenous people.
Join us for a night of learning guided by the first hand experiences of indigenous rights campaigners. Join in the conversation as we share stories, knowledge and discuss practical ways you can continue your journey to learn more and help make a difference to supporting indigenous struggles.
We welcome people who are just starting their journey and wanting to learn about issues in a non-confrontational setting. We also welcome seasoned campaigners to come and share their stories and experience.
Hear from:
- Indira Narayan (Friends of the Earth – Murray Country Coordinator)
- Jenne Perlstein (Australians for Native Title and Reconciliation)
- Robbie Thorpe (BLACK GST)
- Dr Jim Green (FoE Anti-nuclear Collective campaigner)
- Marisol Salinas (FoE & LASNET Indigenous Rights campaigner)
- and for your entertainment ‘The Gathering’ featuring some former member fromĀ the Choir of Hard Knocks (TBC)
