The next meeting of the Melbourne Social Forum will be on Saturday the
15th of July. It will be held at the CERES café at 1PM. The first
part of the meeting will concern incorporation. The Melbourne Social
Forum will be incorporating soon, and we would like to give all
participants and organisers of past and present an opportunity to
voice their ideas, concerns, and priorities in respect to
incorporation.
At 2PM we will begin discussing plans for the G20 Alternative, which
is just around the corner. This year the Melbourne Social Forum will
hold what we are calling the ‘G20 Alternative’. In association with
the Alternative G20 working group, it has been decided that the MSF
will host an open public meeting on during the G20 as a democratic
alternative to the closed G20 sessions that will be held in Melbourne
at the same time. The G20 Alternative will focus on open space
workshops debating policies on debt relief, poverty reduction, climate
change. The sessions will focus on renewing strategies for developing
a more just world order in the face of contemporary globalisation.
(The official MSF will be held in April 2007, as research showed that
autumn was a more opportune time of year for a Social Forum). Come
and be part of this significant organising effort.
That same morning at 11AM at CERES, Plug in TV will be interviewing
people about their views on the global justice / alter-globalisation
movement, local and global. This will form part of a documentary to
raise awareness of the dynamic movement we are a part of.
